Tzfat

Tzfat (or Safed - it does not transliterate into English well) is a stunningly beautiful city on a mountaintop in Israel.

Traditionally, it is the city of the mystics and kabalists. Today, it is known as an artists colony.

Unfortunately, Tzfat was nearly leveled many times over by earthquakes, and there are several places around the city that are still (many years later) under rubble.
